Sapper ALBERT ERNEST GRIBBLE 1st Australian Miners' Corps, under Major Coulter. Enlisted 15th July, 1915. Em-barked from Sydney, March, 1916. Had to re-embark owing to transport having to put back for repair after running aground. Landed Marseilles May, 1916. Went into trenches at France. In fight-ing for seven months at Fleurbaix. Over come by poison gas discharged by enemy boring through trenches. Severely gassed, causing injury to lungs. Invalided to hospitals in England and Scotland. Or-dered home 31st December, 1916.
