Tyne Cot is the world's largest Commonwealth War Cemetery.

The Northumberland Fusiliers named a barn standing near the level crossing on the Paschendale-Broodseinde road 'Tyne Cottage'. It was captured by the 2nd Australian Division on 04 October 1917 in the advance on Paschendale. The cemetery was greatly enlarged after the armistice from the battlefields of Paschendale and Langemarck. more than 8,000 of the 12,000 burials are unidentified.
