History

James Francis Burke was born at Allendale and had a sister called Maria. He died on 18 September 1959 and is buried at Cape Clear Cemetery, Victoria.

Military Experience

Burke enlisted in the AIF during World War One at Ballarat on 09 December 1915 and served as a Sapper (2438) in the 2nd Tunnelling Company. At that time he was a 20 year old farm labourer. He returned to Australia on the Nestor disembarking on 02 July 1919.
