History

Harold Evelyn Baxter was from Snake Valley. He was a telephone mechanic from Melbourne, Victoria, prior to enlistment.


Military Experience

On Sapper Harold Baxter's (0182) World War One enlistment papers, his father was living at Snake Valley. He was a member of the 2nd Field Company Australian Engineers. He embarked on HMAT Orvieto on 20 October 1914 for Gallipoli.

Sapper Baxter was killed in action on 3 June 1915, aged 23 years.
